Centre of Theology, Science and Culture
It has served to bring people together in collegiate forum settings to discuss, debate, and focus on issues that intersect across theology, science and culture.
The Centre has a research, open discussion and seminar stream of activities.
Each year a theme forms a platform for these explorations.
The main purposes of the institute are:
- to provide a focus for collaborative and individual basic, applied and contract research, such that the Flinders Department of Theology and the Adelaide College of Divinity can make a significant contribution to the discovery and interpretation of new knowledge and the revision and interpretation of existing knowledge in the field of theology as it relates to science and culture;
- to provide impetus for quality research, teaching, postgraduate supervision and consultative services within the school and the college;
- to stimulate a lively interaction with the industry (that is, the churches and other religious organisations) that the school and the college serve;
- to engage proactively with a range of community and societal groups outside the school and the college to ensure an appropriate contextualisation of teaching and research.
