Research Databases for TheologyArticles in periodicals and journals are particularly useful when researching a topic because they generally present the most recent and up-to-date information. But…you cannot find about individual articles by searching the library catalog. You need to refer to an index. Adelaide Theological Library subscribes to three major indexes for theological research, all of which are accessible via the Internet from within the library or remotely. Also available is a full text collection of journals on religion and philosophy. “Full text” means that you can search for an article and view its text online, without having to find the paper copy of the journal. EBSCO Host provides access to ATLA Religion Database, Catholic Periodical and Literature Index Online, Religion & Philosophy Collection (full text) and Library, Information Science & Technology Abstract (LISTA) . This means you may search the databases separately or concurrently. Better search options are available if you search the databases separately. Australasian Religion Index (ARI)The Australasian Religion Index (ARI) is an author and subject index covering over eighty religious and theological serials published in Australia or New Zealand and representing all religious traditions. Related areas of study such as history and sociology are also covered. ARI indexes articles, notes and book reviews in religious studies, theology and related fields in the humanities and social sciences. There are also a number of paper indexes, available only on the library shelves. Please ask the library staff for guidance AULOTS (Australasian Union List of Serials In Theological Collections) AULOTS is a database of the serials holdings of theological and religious libraries in Australia and New Zealand. At the time of its loading onto the ANZTLA website, it contained existing holdings for 5256 serial titles held in 96 libraries. Several editions of AULOTS were produced in hardcopy - the most recent being the 4th edition which was published in 2002. The data from the 4th edition formed the basis of the current online database. Contributing libraries are in the process of bringing their holdings statements up to date to accurately reflect their current collections. AULOTS can be searched by serial title and entries provide links to both library holding statements and contact details.
