Chapel of Reconciliation The Chapel of Reconciliation is the physical expression of the ecumenical nature of ACD, complementing ecumenism in intellectual life of the campus. The three denominations of the ACD member colleges – Anglican, Roman Catholic and Uniting – share ‘one Lord, one faith, one baptism’ in this place. The Chapel is furnished with specially designed sanctuary furniture. Bold, contemporary and functional pieces by leading Adelaide designer and craftsman Peter Moritz complement the seating pattern ‘in the round’ recommended by Paris-trained Roman Catholic liturgist Fr Anthony Kain. The Chapel focuses on the baptismal font, the communion table and the lectern, emphasising the three key elements of Christian life and liturgy – baptism, Eucharist and proclamation of the Word.
The pavers were laid by volunteers and a pomegranate tree planted in the centre was chosen for its Biblical links. The labyrinth was opened on 25 August 2005 in honour of refugees and migrants and the journeys they make. During daylight hours the labyrinth is available as a prayer and meditation tool.
