Whats New?

A good start
ACD looks forward to welcoming new and continuing students to the 2014 academic year next week. We do so with a strong foundation for ongoing quality education, having achieved accreditation by TEQSA of all ACD undergraduate and postgraduate courses for a further seven years and ACD's registration as a Higher Education Provider renewed for seven years. And ASQA, the VET regulator, has renewed ACD's registration as a Registered Training Organisation for the full five years in this sector too.

An intensive start
The academic year started early in 2014 with a January intensive (summer school) for the unit Bible and Culture held at the Flinders University campus, led by Dr Liz Boase.
Rev Professor Andrew Dutney and Rev Dr Steve Taylor are each leading an intensive unit of study on the ACD campus starting Monday 10 February:
Introduction to Christian Thought (MINS1304/THEO1304)- Professor Dutney
Church, Ministry and Sacraments (MINS3336/THEO3336) - Dr Taylor

Postgraduate and Diploma course information available

Postgraduate courses accredited
TEQSA has renewed accreditation of ACD postgraduate courses Graduate Diploma in Ministry, Master of Ministry and Doctor of Ministry for 7 years to 2020. Course changes have been approved, including a new pathway for lay people through the Graduate Diploma in Ministry, and more creative options for presenting a thesis in the Doctor of Ministry. Details will be provided soon.

Congratulations to ACD lecturer Beatrice Panne who was recently awarded the Doctor of Philosophy for her thesis on communal discernment.

New study options: Children, Youth & Family Ministry / Discipling Adults
Two new study options in the Diploma of Ministry will be introduced in 2014 that provide training and study needs for people working in children, youth and family ministry, or in spiritual formation and faith development of adults. More information coming soon.

Academic Internship award
New ACD adjunct lecturer Jenny Hein has been awarded a place in the prestigious Flinders University Academic Internship Program for Doctoral Students. This professional development program enables doctoral students to develop and enhance their teaching and research skills for an academic career. Congratulations Jenny!

New Pastoral Training Space on campus
A dedicated suite for pastoral teaching, reflection and skills-based training will be launched on the Adelaide College of Divinity Campus on 31 October. The suite will be a welcome addition to campus facilities supporting teaching in ACD ministry courses at all levels. More information here.
